What does lifting weights do for me?
Lifting weights is so much more than getting that peachy ass we’re all after. It’s so much more than thick thighs and juicy quads. Don’t get me wrong all the above is greatly appreciated! But it’s the mental strength, the knowing when to push yourself and when to be kind to yourself. Being able to take the good sessions with the bad, knowing it’s the consistency and discipline that pays off. Not that set you couldn’t quite hit at 70%. Knowing I’m a better woman, wife and mother because I prioritise myself and what I need. All this from just showing up at the gym consistently.
If you knew what my body has been through having had three kids, delivering one at 27weeks gestation; you’d know how incredible the female body really is.
At 41 I’m hitting menopause early and appreciating what we know about menopause and the importance of bone density and muscle. I continue to be grateful I can lift heavy weights.
Women are so much stronger, resilient and able than we give ourselves credit for. So if this motivates one woman to get up and lift – great.
